Consciousness is nothing but narrative loops all the way down, and once you see that programming in action you get the the real challenge of life

Yep, it’s why trading is the greatest feedback mechanism on the planet. It used to be that you’d write fiction, or essays, and you’d never get any feedback in any reasonable time frame. ( I think this is what induced severe depression in David Foster Wallace, for example.)

But when you can make money on simple stuff like buying MCD because you think the snack wrap is going to perpetuate through the social network more than anticipated, you get a very rapid response ability to question/modify your assumptions
